MAGNETIC MACHINE: 2019 FORD F-350 PLATINUM

“I CAN BUILD A UNIQUE FORD RIG UP TO MY HIGH STANDARDS AND PUT MY PERSONAL SIGNATURE LOOK TO IT.”

 
 
 

When you’re a custom shop, you’re expected to build rigs that are on a different level. There’s no room for mediocre builds for shop owners, who are expected to create rolling masterpieces that catch the eye, which undoubtedly requires pressure to raise the bar. Houston Haskins of Superior Off-Road in Oregon knows this to be true when it comes to his shop’s rigs.
“As I have been in business since 2004 and building cars and trucks are my passion and life along with two kids and a loving wife, I hadn’t had time to build the truck that I had always wanted and was willing to do until now.” He contacted Chris Payne (aka Truck Guru) and began the rendering process, choosing colors and the design to also match his other vehicles and boat. Then, it was time to actually buy the 2019 Ford F-350 Platinum (in the brand’s Magnetic color) that would be the base of his majestic truck. “I can build a unique Ford rig up to my high standards and put my personal signature look to it.”
Houston knew what worked and what didn’t, selecting the exact mods and fabrication to do to make a statement became easy. “I have worked with most of the companies whose products were used on my truck. I wanted high- end but also products that I would be able to educate my customers to show them what can be done and used on their vehicles.” Houston went with Rogue Forged because of their “game changing designs,” and paired the wheels with Nitto’s (then) new 42” tall tires. The 12” Precision Metal Fab suspension lift makes the Ford a towering presence and the Hammerhead front and rear bumpers give the truck a rugged look. For some added power in the performance department, he added a Banks Derringer tuner and Monster exhaust.
Towing and recovery accessories include a Geny-Y hitch and supports, BOLT Locks and Royal Hooks D-Rings. When it came down to lighting, he wanted the look to really shine and went with Rigid Industries Dually front and rear lights, a 20” Rigid dual row LED light bar, RIGID underglow, custom headlights by Onpoint Retrofits and custom-painted tail lights by his shop. Other accessories include: ARE Z series canopy, Hornblasters Goliath horn setup, Royalty Core grille, Bedrug, Husky Liners and a custom wrap.
The end result is something that not only Houston loves, but random strangers also show love for the truck as they come up to him at shows or when driving around in admiration of his custom work. “People love it and I’m constantly getting compliments.”
