Lone Star Throwdown 2020
If you, by any way, dig custom trucks, LoneStar Throwdown (LST) is a must event to attend. Simply put, this showbringsout moretrucks thanany other eventin the nation. Though there areall typesof customs present, it is now dominated by sky-high pickups, with large rollers. We can also tell you that it’s a go-to event for the top builders, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
The show began in 2012, with the first LST held at the same location it is at now-the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe, TX.The humble beginnings were conceived when Todd “Radar” Hendrex and Lonnie Ford felt a need for a better truck and car show, with a more relaxed atmosphere. Little did they know that LST would grow from a just few hundred vehicles to having a cap of 2,000 pre-registrations, which are sold out months before the gates open.
Alot of appealtothis event is the custom billet awards made by Philbuilt Designs. There are not too many of them given out, either, as just the“Top 100”vehicles are chosen to receive them along with a few special others like the “Best of”recipients. These awards are truly special and it’s no wonder why so many top-notch vehicles make it out each year. With such stiff competition, builders bring their A-game just for the chance at winning some of this coveted hardware.
However, not all that show up are there for the sake of the awards. Most are there just to take it all in and enjoy the sights along the way. We have been to many events around the world and can tell you that there is no other show like LST. By simply walking around the grounds, you will able to witness history as this event is monumental to the scene.
One of the coolest things about the event is the cruising, which makes for a rolling spectacle. This is one of our favorite parts as you get the chance to see most of the vehicles in action while roaming around. But like any other car show, there are rules to be followed, such as no doing donuts or burnouts. There was an altercation this year, and the driver of a certain vehicle was ultimately arrested. We strongly urge every one to respect the rules so that events like this can continue for all of us to enjoy.
With that being said, if you do want to join in on all the festivities, you can get the latest info by checking out the official IG page, @lonestarthrowdown. And, we do suggest making plans far ahead of time as flight options thin out quick and hotels get fully booked each year. As for this past event, we had another great time at the show, and we would like to thank the entire staff for pulling it all off once again.
