Houston Haskins has been around all things automotive since a young age. He fondly recalls growing up in his parent’s body shop, Superior Auto Body in Gresham, OR, which is where he’d get his hands dirty any chance he got. Then as he got older, he learned the ropes on the business side of things (in addition to the wrenching) and started to show a passion for working with 4WD vehicles and auto accessories geared towered trucks and off-road rigs.
When he was just 16, he was already managing the shop and helping on large truck builds for notable companies, such as Bushwacker and Revtek. By the time he graduated high school in 2004, he was in charge of the build section of the business. Fast forward 19 years later and he’s living the dream, waking up every morning to do what he loves at Superior Off-Road – building trucks for customers and, of course, himself.
Thanks to various relationships with aftermarket companies, he was able to link up with Hostile Wheels for a set of collaboration rigs for the 2021 SEMA Show. He needed a shop truck for marketing purposes, so he immediately jumped at the opportunity to get his hands on a 2020 Ford F-250 Platinum and it’s big brother, a 2021 Ford F-350 Platinum, as the base trucks and went to work.
To make sure it all came together as he first envisioned, Houston enlisted the help of Truck Guru Cris Payne for extra guidance and support. “He’s a good friend and we’ve worked well together in the past,” he mentions.
To have a cohesive look for the duo Fords, both share similar mods, (despite having their own color schemes) but were dressed with different Hostile wheels. The F-250 flaunts a set of 24×14 Hostle HF08 Savage polished wheels wrapped in 42x1550R24 Nitto Trail Grappler rubber while the F-350 flosses 26×14 Hostile HF07 Tomahawk wheels with 42x1550R26 Nitto Trail Grappler tires.
The F-250 also towers with its 14” PMF suspension with stainless overlays while the F-350 was given a 12” PMF suspension – with all parts poweder coated to match the exterior color. The exterior of both vehicles feature Addictive Desert Designs front and rear bumpers, an Overkill Engineering custom grille, Royal hooks, Bolt locks and all parts painted to match. The rigs were accented with Rigid industries lighting all around, custom Onpoint Retrofits headlights and one-off taillights by Superior Off-Road.
Although the trucks were built during Covid lockdowns, Houston and his team got it all dressed and ready for the big show in one month. They are now both weekenders when the weather is nice and act as marketing tools for his shop around town and shows.
